Bronze Girls

The most disrespected, disregarded
Used, abused and brokenhearted.
Cast aside by the world, these precious girls.
Dipped in bronze with ebony curls, little girls.
Who hide from god’s grace to preserve their skin.
Convinced their dark skin is a cruel sin.
All taught that they are eternally cursed,
Yes this was the lesson they learned first.
Spent adolescence arguing their worth.
At times contemplating leaving this earth.
It is true these little girls are very tough,
Does not mean they deserve a life made rough.
Dear bronze little girls you are all so true.
So much like them but no one is like you.
